Sustainability Pledge

I acknowledge my responsibility as an artist and small business owner, to implement and maintain sustainable practices.

I have taken huge strides towards becoming environmentally sustainable, including the following:

  • My original artworks use acid-free rag papers (made from: cotton in the form of off-cuts from cotton T-shirts, recycled jute sacks ,and residual fibres from banana leaf and sugar cane). My prints use 100% cotton or 100% alpha cellulose, acid-free papers from reliable third party paper mills. The paper mills use pulp and pulp alternatives from sustainable sources with no rainforests being harmed in the making of their papers, and cotton linters as a by-product from annual cotton crops grown for the textile industry. My prints use archival-quality, sustainable water-based pigment inks from reliable third party print shops. Our greetings cards are made from unbleached, chlorine-free paper stock made from 100% de-inked post consumer waste.

  • In respect of my packaging, I use 100% plastic-free and fully recyclable: glassine paper, tissue paper, backing boards, corner protectors, note cards, business cards, cardboard envelopes, cardboard postal tubes, paper bags and twine. I also use biodegradable A3 display sleeves. I use minimal single use plastics and I am looking into recyclable or biodegradable alternatives to replace these.

  • With regards to travel, I use public transport for all travel and opt for virtual video call meetings where possible to avoid unnecessary travel.

I am committed to continually exploring ways to improve the environmental sustainability of my art practices and products. I am working towards cutting all single-use plastic from my packaging, and minimising the use of finite materials by increasing my use of recycled or renewable materials, particularly in relation to sticky tapes, stickers and display sleeves. I am working towards only using materials that can be recycled or, better still, will biodegrade. My efforts will be reviewed on a regular basis to ensure I continue to make progress with working towards my sustainability goals.
